Sellier or Retourné?
The Kelly comes in two constructions. Sellier: the seams are stitched on the outside and left exposed. The result is sharp, rigid and architectural — the bag stands up on its own and holds a perfect trapezoid shape. Retourné: the bag is stitched inside out and then turned, hiding the seams and producing a softer, rounder, more relaxed shape.
Epsom leather — embossed, rigid, lightweight and scratch-resistant — is the classic leather for the Sellier construction, because it holds its shape. The Kelly bags sold here are in Black Epsom leather, presented as Sellier construction.
